A New Way to Learn at Butterfly Hollow Acres Microschool
A virtual learning community enriched by hands-on education, outdoor exploration, and real-world discovery.
Virtual Learning
Students complete their core academic work through the Prenda learning platform, which provides a structured curriculum designed to support independent learning and mastery of core subjects. Students participate in afternoon Zoom meetings for collaboration, discussions, book club, and group activities while progressing through their lessons at their own pace.
Hands-On Learning Experiences
Butterfly Hollow Acres provides hands-on learning sessions held on select weekdays and weekends throughout the year. Students participate in activities such as gardening, nature journaling, science projects, and educational field trips. Our small farm and homestead serve as an extended classroom where students explore agriculture, science, and the natural environment.
Farm & Nature Education
Students also have opportunities to learn about farm life through animal interactions and agricultural experiences. Activities may include observing and caring for animals, exploring nature, and developing responsibility through real-world learning. Opportunities to participate in programs such as 4-H may also be incorporated as the program grows.
Home Economics & Life Skills
Students learn practical life skills through activities such as cooking, baking, food preparation, and basic household skills. These experiences help students build independence, confidence, and an understanding of nutrition, planning, and responsibility.
Entrepreneurship & Real-World Skills
Students will have opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills by creating and selling projects they design or produce. Through these experiences, students learn valuable lessons in creativity, problem solving, teamwork, basic business concepts, and financial responsibility.
Community & Collaboration
Our microschool fosters a supportive learning community where students collaborate, share ideas, and build friendships. Activities such as book club discussions, group projects, and collaborative learning sessions help students strengthen communication skills and develop confidence in expressing their ideas. Our microschool fosters a supportive learning community where students collaborate, share ideas, and build friendships.
